A few simple makeup tips that work...

We all want to look like we are about to step onto the red carpet when walking out of the house.  Here are a few easy tips to incorporate into your daily makeup routine to make sure you look fresh and vibrant everyday.

Cheeks and Lips...

Always try to stain your cheeks and lips BEFORE applying your foundation.  This way if your foundation wears off you will still have lips and cheek that continue to glow throughout the day/night.

For cheeks... you can do this with a cream blush, stain or lipstick.  If using lipstick on your cheeks make sure you find one that compliments your natural skin tone. A rule of thumb for color is as follows: Mauves and burgundies look best on darker complexions, peaches and golden hues for fairer skin tones, and coral shades look beautiful on medium complexions. Use your fingertip to blend the product into the apples of your cheeks and along your cheekbone.  After application and blending be sure to brush a translucent powder over your cheeks to "set" it before applying foundation.

For lips... apply your lipstick or stain with a lip brush, add translucent powder on the top, and repeat this process two or three times.  If you want your lip color to last all day this is a sure fire way it will not budge and continue to look radiant throughout the midnight hours.

Eyes...

Shadow... We all know smokey eyes are not for everyone, especially if you do not know what you are doing.  Too black of shadow on to fairer of complexions can be disastrous.  Instead try something more subtle and sexier.  Apply a nude shadow all over the lip, with a contouring brush use a golden brown in the outer corner of the lid and blend up into the crease, lightly.  Instead of a black liner use a dark brown or gray liner and make sure to blend it in.

Eyeliner... Who know's how to play connect the dots.  This is the best way to get your liner looking perfect when attempting to use liquid liner (which looks super fresh if applied correctly).  Not everyone has a steady had lick a brain surgeon so try this technique which will amaze you with the results.  Make small little dots all the way across your eyelid, then simply connect the dots.  Use a q-tip to blend it in.

Mascara... Double coat.  If you want full luscious lashes with lots of length try using two different kinds of mascara.  Start with a lengthening mascara followed by a thickening mascara.  Your eyes will be sure to POP.

Finishing touches... apply a light bronzer to your cheekbones, jawline, forehead and a quick brush down your nose bone.  Be sure not to over-bronze, nobody needs to look three shades darker then their natural skin tones, and make sure you blend into your neck and chest.

Try to resist re-applying your powder throughout the day.  All this does is give you a caking over applied look.  Instead use blotting papers or if you are in a real pinch, toilet seat covers work wonders.

SPRING ENZYME SPECIAL

Don't just leave spring cleaning for your house.  Give your skin a good spring cleaning by removing all the dead skin cells that have built up over the winter months.  Start the spring out with a fresh new face.  Make your appointment today to enjoy my relaxing Pomegranate Enzyme Infused Facial... (good for most skin types).  This enzyme packs a powerful punch full of antioxidants and natural skin brighteners to leave your skin looking and feeling super fresh.  If that is not enough you'll be sure to love the added benefits of my Strawberry/Spearmint Mask that absorbs oil, refines pores, and draws out impurities and toxins.  Promoting hydration, reduction of oil, dead skin cells, and dullness, there is no doubt you will enjoy every minute of the Relaxing Spring Pomegranate Facial.

And a little education for those of you who are asking: "um what is an antioxidant and what does that mean for my skin" --- which by the way is a VERY good question.  Antioxidants are enzymes and nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and proteins that can help to prevent and repair damage to your body's tissue.  They do this by slowing or prevent the effect of free radicles, which start oxidation.  A process that causes damage from oxygen that can lead to cell dysfunction.  I am sure you have all seen what happens to an apple when you cut it in half and it starts to turn brown.

This is oxidation in action and it happens to your skin as well.  Antioxidants block the effect of free radicles, (oxidations of your skin), and can help to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun.  But you need to keep them replenished.  That is why good skin maintenance might start in the spa/salon/studio but should always be maintained at home with proper nutrition. If you would like more information on this process and what you can do at home to keep a good balance of antioxidants in your diet please feel free to email me at meadowstar@me.com.
